Prince Edward Island opposition leader Olive Crane says she will ask the public accounts committee to subpoena the former deputy minister of tourism.
Tourism minister Rob Henderson told the committee he and his current deputy, David MacKenzie, will appear. They're expected to answer questions raised by the Auditor General about $8 million in uncontracted work.
Crane says Henderson and MacKenzie weren't with the tourism department at the time. Thursday she hopes the Liberal-dominated committee will agree to subpoena MacEachern.
"When it comes to open transparent government, it's important that we have deputy ministers who are making decisions with taxpayers dollars to come to public accounts and to answer," said Crane.
Crane says she will make a motion at Thursday's public accounts committee meeting to subpoena MacEachern.
