Ottawa realtor accused of attempted murder denied bail

An Ottawa realtor accused of attempted murder for allegedly beating his wife in the head with a baseball bat has been denied bail.

Chris Hoare, 44, has been in custody since April 2.

Evidence heard at his bail hearing is protected by a standard pre-trial publication ban. The reason why Justice of the Peace Julie Lauzon denied him bail on April 23 are also protected by a publication ban.

Neighbours previously told CBC News that a woman was found bleeding on the driveway of her Orleans home in her pyjamas on the morning of April 2. Police later recovered a baseball bat from the home's garage, CBC News learned at the time.

Hoare has worked for Paul Rushforth Real Estate and is the former president of the Ottawa Real Estate Board.
