Pay It Forward inspires Winnipeggers with acts of kindness

Some Winnipeggers are surprising total strangers with random acts of kindness, and encouraging the recipients to pass it on.

Yvette Deveau, who runs Pay It Forward Manitoba, was among those who approached unsuspecting Winnipeggers with free coffee and other generous acts on Wednesday.

Deveau asked the recipients of her acts of kindness to "pay it forward" and do something nice for someone else.

"It starts with small gestures," she said.

"These gestures, when thousands and millions of people are doing them, then guess what? It becomes a movement."

Deveau said she just wants to make people feel good and start a wave of kindness.

"It's funny because people are confused. They look at you like, you know, you want something form them," she said. "That kind of makes me sad a little bit."

Sisters Connie and Koren Kines, who co-own Venture Health Care, decided to "pay it forward" by giving each of their 15 employees $100 to spend on others.

The sisters used their share on Wednesday by paying for families' Santa photos at Polo Park Shopping Centre.
