Pearson's new plan of attack for winter weather
Pearson airport has revised its plan of attack for dealing with winter storms.
On Thursday, the Greater Toronto Airports Authority announced a number of new steps that will be followed when severe winter weather strikes.
For starters, Pearson has created a new app to give passengers better access to information about evolving weather conditions and flight schedules.
Pearson is also improving its Wi-Fi and cellphone service.
The airport will also provide its customers with key essentials — including waters and diapers — when major delays occur. And it will ensure that food and beverage concessions stay open on these occasions.
For staff, the airport will ensure that warming stations are available when extreme cold sets in. New equipment has been purchased for snow removal.
The changes come in the wake of problems that occurred last January, when a deep freeze caused passengers to be stranded.
