I believed in our cause there. For me, Iraq was an extension of our global war on terrorism. I was going there to fight associates of an enemy who had killed 3,000 Americans. In 2004 when I was mobilized, Iraq was being torn apart by sectarian and religious conflict. I felt it was my obligation to help bring peace and security to that country.
