These girls are so beautiful. Any parent would be proud to have daughters like these. I have three daughters myself, one is deaf and the other is in a wheelchair and the youngest has Autism. I love them dearly but I would have given anything to have able bodied children who can function independently and get the most out of living without the struggles that come with disabilities. How extremely unfair life can be sometimes. How wicked and evil that the one place that children are sopposed to feel safest could turn on them in this horrible manner. No punishment can fit this crime.

I can understand this family has strong traditional beliefs that lead them to want to live their lives a particular way. Unfortunately, living in Canada their children would have been exposed to different beliefs, which would have been in direct opposition to the parents' values. As much as the family have the right to live how they want and raise their children in a traditional home that cherishes certain values, they chose to move to Canada where things are much different. This does not mean they should throw their beliefs out the window. It does mean they should have found a way to meld these into a way of living and raising their children so they could maintain their cultural beliefs while respecting Canadian culture and more importantly, Canadian laws.
I have no sympathy for the choices these 3 people made because they made a choice to come to Canada, and there is tons of support for immigrants to learn to live within their new country. As much as I can empathize with how difficult it must be uprooting yourself to move to a foreign country with completely different values, they had no right to go to the extreme they did (in murdering their children). They got what they deserved because they broke Canadian laws, and being from another country and culture is no excuse.
It is possible, as I first outlined, to maintain your culture while somehow assimilating into your new culture. I have friends from other cultures and countries who have successfully done so. One of them married outside of her culture and still maintains her traditional beliefs, although she has integrated her husband's beliefs as well.
What a loss that these 4 shining stars are no more...
