Quebec celebrates Kateri Tekakwitha
North America's first aboriginal saint, Mohawk Kateri Tekakwitha, was one of seven saints canonized by Pope Benedict XVI during a mass at the Vatican on Sunday, Oct. 21. Her canonization was also celebrated in Kahnawake, Que., where she is buried at St. Francis Xavier Church. The "Lily of the Mohawks" died in 1680 in what is now Canada.
