Ottawa police tracked down and arrested a three more people wanted in connection with a drug investigation in Vanier, said Staff Sgt. Kal Ghadban on Wednesday morning.
"And they're out there right now looking for any more," he added.
The Ottawa Police Service street-crime unit charged 50 people at the end of a two-year investigation called “Project Voyage” in the Vanier area, police announced Tuesday evening.
Police said 33 men and 17 women face a total of 230 trafficking offences.
Officers had arrested 20 of the 50 people charged when then announced the charges on Tuesday evening and arrested three more by Wednesday morning. Police are not ready to release any of the names of the accused in the investigation, said Ghadban.
"We don't want people tipping off others who might be involved," he said.
Ghadban said the Vanier community is to thank for the results of Project Voyage.
Police Chief Vern White also thanked Vanier residents recently for offering similar tips that led to a bust in which officers seized $2.7 million worth of assets, drugs and guns.
In that case, police arrested 22 people, all of whom were part of an organized-crime group that was previously unknown to police.
