Jason Nguyen, 15, ID'ed as victim in Vancouver homicide investigation

Vancouver police have identified 15-year-old Jason Nguyen as the city's latest homicide victim.

He was killed in East Vancouver on Sunday. Investigators initially treated his death as suspicious, but said they're treating it as a homicide on Monday.

On Sunday, officers and paramedics rushed to a home on East 24th Avenue near Rupert Street around 3 p.m. PT after the injured young man was found by a family member.

He was taken to hospital for treatment, but later died.

"It is still very early in the investigation and there are limited details to share, but police do not believe the attack was random," Vancouver police said in a press release.

Police confirm that Nguyen, a student at Windermere Secondary School, was not known to police.

This is Vancouver's ninth homicide of the year.

Officers are asking anyone with information to contact the Vancouver Police Department.
