Police reopen Adriana Falcon overdose case
Vancouver police will be reopening their investigation into the drug overdose death of 15-year-old Adriana Falcon, it was announced Tuesday.
Falcon was found dead in a Vancouver boarding house on Haro Street in September, and toxicology reports revealed she died of a lethal mixture of methamphetamine and heroin.
Police investigators had turned the case over to the B.C. Coroners Service, after concluding Falcon's death was not suspicious.
In a press release today, police maintained the death was not suspicious, but said that "information received by police and the Coroners Service have led detectives to reopen the investigation."
Last week, Adriana's father Rick called for the case to be reopened after he posted on Facebook the name, address and photograph of a 28-year-old man who he claims sold his daughter drugs and was with her when she died.
Similarly, a man who lived in the same building as Adriana told CBC News last week he had reported the sale and use of drugs in the rooming house to the building manager and owner several times.
The Major Crimes Section will now be handling the case.
