Police seek man in 'alarming' sex assault on house cleaner

Toronto police are looking for a man they say sexually assaulted a woman who was cleaning a house in the Deepwood Crescent and Greenland Road area.

The man knocked on the front door, said he was looking to buy the house, which was up for sale, and was allowed to enter.

He then attacked and sexually assaulted her, police said.

During the alleged assault, he was startled by a sound and fled the scene. The woman also ran from the house and asked a neighbour for help. Because the suspect is still at large, CBC News agreed not to identify the neighbour.

"She was distraught," he said. "She said 'I need help, can you help me please?'"

"She told me she was assaulted. It's horrendous."

'You know what you did'

Det. Sgt. Joanne Rudnick of the sex crimes unit described the incident as "alarming."

"Although we do not release particulars of the assault, I can tell you this case is alarming and we need the public's help in order to solve it," said Rudnick.

Rudnick appealed to the suspect to "get a lawyer and turn yourself in."

"You know what you did," she said.

The suspect is described as white, in his 20s, 5' 8" with a thin build. He had red streaked hair that flared at his ears. He was wearing a faded orange shirt ripped at the neck, blue jean shorts cut-off below the knees, and black shoes with white lettering.

The incident is alleged to have happened around 2:30 p.m. on May 22.

Police are looking to speak with real estate agents and anyone who was in the Deepwood Crescent and Greenland Road area on that day.
