Ontario's Special Investigations Unit is investigating after a man was shot by a police officer in Brampton on Friday evening.
The SIU said in a news release that Peel Regional Police reported they had investigated a vehicle in a residential driveway on Velvet Grass Lane at about 6:50 p.m.
The male driver attempted to flee in the vehicle and a police officer fired his gun.
The man, who suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his upper body, was taken to Brampton Civic Hospital.
The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death or serious injury.
