New postal code A2H 4A1 not recognized by online shops

A man living on Newfoundland's west coast says he's frustrated that his new postal code isn't recognized by online retailers.

Barry Wheeler, who lives in Summerside, said Canada Post changed his postal code to A2H 4A1 last June.

However, Wheeler said he hasn't been able to receive packages ordered online since the change.

In some cases, parcels are being sent back to the shipper once they make it as far as Corner Brook.

Wheeler said he's frustrated that neither Canada Post nor retailers seem to be able to come up with a solution.

"I called to Canada Post, I mean they basically said it's up to the retailers to make the change, and then we contact the retailers and the retailers say, 'Hey, we've got the latest postal code database that's been provided by Canada Post,' so it's sort of like we don't exist," said Wheeler.

He added he may have to purchase an alternative community mailbox to receive packages, if his postal code continues to be rejected by retailers.
