Python escapes from North Vancouver home
RCMP and animal conservation officers are searching for a pet snake that escaped from a house in North Vancouver.
The snake is a 1.2 metre-long ball python.
RCMP Cpl. Doug Trousdell says the snake isn't believed to be dangerous. The ball python is a nonvenomous snake.
"It was a pet snake that had gotten loose somewhere in the house," Trousdell said.
The snake was last seen Tuesday night at the house in the 1800 block of Purcell Way.
Neighbours are especially on edge after two New Brunswick boys who were killed after an African rock python escaped its enclosure in Campbellton, N.B.
Today, preliminary autopsy results revealed the boys died from asphyxiation.
Tracy Campbell lives on Purcell Way and says she's worried about young children and small animals living in the area.
"Why would you have something like that? I don't understand," said Campbell, visibly upset. "It seems more like a statement than a pet."
