RCMP charge 2 after marijuana plants found in Strasbourg, Sask.

Two people are charged after officers searched a home in Strasbourg, Sask. Friday and found marijuana plants, cannabis resin as well as a firearm police say was unauthorized and improperly stored.

RCMP officers — including members of an organized crime unit and police dogs from Yorkton, Sask. — searched the home on Downey Street in Strasbourg at around 5:30 p.m. CST and arrested four people. However, two of them were released without charges the same evening.

While RCMP have not said how many plants were found inside the home, they have released a photo showing some of them.

A man and woman face charges for production and possession of marijuana and cannabis resin. The man has also been charged with unsafe storage of a firearm and ammunition and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

The suspects are due back in court in Southey, Sask. in March.

Strasbourg is located approximately 80 kilometres north of Regina on Highway 20.
