RCMP Const. Stephen Hudson facing firearms charges
An RCMP officer in Fort Saskatchewan has been charged with the possession of a restricted weapon along with other firearms-related offences.
RCMP say they received a tip about Const. Stephen Hudson several weeks ago, and then contacted the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team to investigate.
ASIRT opened its investigation in Hudson on April 23, searching his home that same day.
As a result of the search, Hudson was arrested and charged with:
- Unlawful possession of a Bushmaster .223 calibre assault rifle, which is a restricted weapon
- Unlawful possession of a .22 calibre rifle
- Careless storage of both rifles
- Possession of an unlicensed, restricted firearm and ammunition
- Possession of a prohibited device
- Unlawful transfer and improper storage of his 9mm service pistol
Hudson has since been released with conditions. He has been suspended from duty with pay until his trial.
