Rideau High School reopened Tuesday, a day after it was forced to remain closed due to suspicious and recurring fumes that first showed up Friday, the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board said.
The smell was first identified Friday afternoon and was believed be coming from the sewer system.
When firefighters arrived at the school they found five adults complaining of nausea and respiratory irritation. Three firefighters experienced similar symptoms. All were treated by paramedics, then released.
Officials had said the school could reopen Monday but the fumes have returned and the school remains closed.
The school board announced on its website Rideau has reopened.
