Refugee family reunited with lost daughter after 4 years

A family of refugees from Eritrea had a special reunion in St. John's on Thursday when they were reunited with a loved one.

Four years ago, Genet Abraham's oldest daughter, Selam, was abducted in a North African refugee camp.

Abraham managed to get to Canada with her two younger daughters, but the family never knew what happened to Selam, who is now 20.

With the help of the international Red Cross and the federal government, friends and supporters of the family tracked the young woman down in Holland.

She arrived in St. John's Thursday morning. The family has requested privacy at this time.
