    Royals confirm Stampede visit

The biggest attraction at this year’s Calgary Stampede parade might occur before it actually gets underway.

That’s because officials for England’s royal family have confirmed the itinerary for Prince William and his wife Catherine during their June 30 to July 8 visit to Canada, and the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth was included.

Royal enthusiasts hoping to catch a glimpse of the famous couple will want to line the parade route early, as they will ride a motorcade through the parade route in reverse before the actual event gets underway.

“We know that the couple, having heard so much about the Stampede, are looking forward to attending the events,” said spokesperson Doug Fraser. “The Stampede is really an iconic and hugely popular festival and celebrates so much about what is special in Alberta.”

On their trip, Kate and Will also plan to attend Canada Day celebrations in Ottawa, dragonboat races in Charlottetown and a military ceremony in Quebec City. They will tour a children’s hospital in Montreal and sail down the St. Lawrence River as well.

The Northwest Territories will also see its share of royalty, as Will and Kate are scheduled to take a canoe ride in the isolated community of Blachford Lake and witness some good, old-fashioned street hockey in Yellowknife.

Great news to hear that the young royals are coming to Calgary for a visit in July. They will be greeted warmly and with due respect for the future King and Queen of Great Britain ..and.. Canada. We certainly want to see them in person. Cheerio :-)
