Good news, guys: You can finally get an Earls Girl to come home with you.
Using women who work in their establishments, Earls restaurants have produced a pin-up calendar featuring female employees in a variety of settings, ensembles and poses. All profits from the Earls Girls Calendar for the Cure will go towards breast cancer research.
"We fund and support relevant and innovative breast cancer research, meaningful awareness programs, early diagnosis and effective treatment, and finally, a quality of life for those affected by breast cancer," said Monique Levesque-Pharoah of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, who was on hand yesterday for the calendar's unveiling.
It is hoped the calendars will raise more than $70,000 for the foundation -- each 15-month calendar includes 33 servers and a centrefold section. They can be purchased at any Winnipeg Earls location for about $20.
Kelly Haaksma works at the eatery's Main Street location, and was enthusiastic about participating in the fundraiser.
"I wanted to be in the calendar, because of course it's really fun, it's an honour, I'm flattered to be asked to be in it," said the longtime Earls server.
"I also wanted to do it because it was for breast cancer, and my aunt Sheila won her battle five years ago ... It was a struggle and we're all really proud of her."
Haaksma said this year's photo shoot was sort of a dry run for future fundraising calendars.
"The Earls girls have been just fantastic ... it's very high end, very classy," said Levesque-Pharoah, noting all the women donated their time to the project.
