MONTREAL (AFP) - Legendary US filmmaker Woody Allen and his New Orleans Jazz Band will appear for the first time at the Montreal International Jazz Festival in June, organizers said Tuesday.
Allen, 72, who is said to have skipped the awards ceremony that won him four Oscars for his 1977 film "Annie Hall" to play in a gritty bar with his band, has played the clarinet since the age of 15.
A fan of big bands and New Orleans jazz, he plays regularly at Manhattan's Cafe Carlyle, and in 1996 performed on tour at prestigious Paris, Venice, Barcelona, Athens, Monte Carlo and Munich concert halls.
He will play only one show at the Montreal jazz festival on June 30.
