LAS VEGAS, Nevada (AFP) - The Wynn Las Vegas casino has sued former National Basketball Association star Charles Barkley, saying he owes 400,000 dollars in gambling debts, the Las Vegas Sun reported Thursday.

The casino alleges it extended four 100,000-dollar markers to Barkley last October that have not been paid back.

District Attorney David Roger told the newspaper that Barkley will be notified of the investigation and given an opportunity to clear his debt with the casino.

Should Barkley, a 13-time All-Star who now works as an NBA commentator for TNT television, fail to repay the debt, he could face felony charges.

"We prosecute cases like this every day," Roger told the Las Vegas Sun. "Mr. Barkley will be treated the same as everybody else."
