KANDAHAR, Afghanistan - Canadian soldiers are getting back to work this Easter Monday after a weekend of rest and spiritual rebirth.
For Padre Jim Brown, chaplain for the Canadian contingent, it was a busy three days that capped a difficult several weeks.
Three Canadian soldiers have been lost since March, while three other coalition troops - two Americans and a Romanian - died last week alone.
Brown says the familiar rites and rituals of Easter are of great comfort to troops who miss the familiar trappings of a Canadian spring.
He says they take solace in the fact that their family members are attending identical Easter services at home.
Brown says many soldiers feel it's appropriate to be far from home for Easter, however, since it's a holiday that's all about sacrifice.
