YANGON, Myanmar - Myanmar's state television says the junta leader has visited cyclone relief camps on the outskirts of Yangon.
It is Senior Gen. Than Shwe's first meeting with survivors since the cyclone struck two weeks ago.
State television says Than Shwe travelled from the capital Naypyitaw in the north Sunday to visit relief camps in the Hlaing Thar Yar and Dagon suburbs of Yangon.
It showed Than Shwe inspecting relief supplies and comforting the victims of cyclone Nargis.
The visit comes amid accusations that the junta chairman had remained indifferent to the country's natural disaster and had not visited cyclone-affected regions.
