PESHAWAR, Pakistan - A suicide bomb attack near an army base killed four people and wounded 12 Sunday in Pakistan's militancy-plagued northwest.
The blast occurred outside a bakery near the Punjab Regimental Centre in the town of Mardan. There were no immediate claims of responsibility.
Police say the attacker detonated himself right at the gate of the bakery, killing at least four people.
Pakistan's northwest is considered a haven for militants with links to the Taliban and al-Qaida.
The country's new leaders have sought peace deals with militants to end the violence in the region, and attacks had subsided overall since the new government came to power some seven weeks ago.
