RIVIERE-DU-LOUP, Que. - A man charged with first-degree murder in the violent death of a political aide has arrived at a Quebec courthouse.

Francis Proulx is expected to face additional charges this afternoon in the abduction and killing of Nancy Michaud, an aide to a prominent provincial cabinet minister. The 29-year-old Proulx lived around the corner from Michaud in the small village of Riviere-Ouelle, northeast of Quebec City.

Police say Proulx could face charges of kidnapping, confinement and robbery when he appears in a Riviere-du-Loup court.

Investigators believe the 37-year-old Michaud was abducted from her home in the middle of the night as her children slept.

The slaying of the popular community volunteer has rocked citizens the picturesque town of 1,200.

And women aren't allowed to protect themselves with video surveillance because its not admissable in court as evidence. No women and children are safe without alarm and surveillance and it should be mandatory in cases where there is any suspected domestic violence too. This is not that kind of case but there are many cases of it. Women and should be protected way more in this country. The streets can also be under survelliance but someone stupidly has an issue with privacy

The locals better lynch the sicko dude because we know the courts are powerless to do anything to him, other than bore him with a parade of mental health "experts" who will drag out his trial for many years. He can not be punished because nothing that would be meaningful to him can be done. He can only gain infamy and notariety and that's what he wants.

Heres a guy who should have been in jail for Break and Enter but because of our judicial system he was allowed out, to kill. In all likelihood he will be out on the street again in a few years. I hope he stays in Quebec.
