EDMONTON - Over 100 young people from across Canada are talking about the social and environmental impacts of Alberta's oilsands projects.
The Canadian Youth Climate Coalition is holding a three-day conference in Edmonton.
Organizers hope that through climate change-based workshops, participants will take information about the oilsands back to their home towns.
Co-ordinator Paul Baker says a panel discussion on the oilsands brought together representatives from government as well as environmental and First Nations groups.
He says the panel really drove home the point that people must focus on the big emitters when talking about climate change.
Some participants call the oilsands issue a complex one, recognizing the impact development has had on jobs and the economy.
