U.S. cargo plane has crashed in northern Mexico, killing its pilot

RAMOS ARIZPE, Mexico - Officials say a U.S. cargo plane has crashed while trying to land in the northern Mexican city of Ramos Arizpe, killing the pilot and seriously injuring the co-pilot.

Coahuila state official Segismundo Doguin says pilot John Mackintosh was killed.

Co-pilot Christian Yenh suffered second-and third-degree burns and is in critical condition at a hospital in nearby Saltillo.

The nationality of the men in unknown.

Doguin says the plane crashed before dawn about a kilometre from the runway in Ramos Arizpe, 320 kilometres south of the U.S.-Mexico border.

Doguin says the plane was carrying four tons of car hoods for a GM plant.
