LONDON - The Tate Modern art museum in London says it will build a brick pyramid instead of a glass ziggurat to almost double its exhibition space by 2012.
Museum spokeswoman Ruth Findlay said the pyramid will be more energy efficient and create more space for exhibitions at Britain's most popular art gallery.
The new building will be 65 metres high and will cost about $430 million in private and public funding.
It is designed by Swiss architects Herzog and de Meuron, the same who created the Tate Modern from a former power station.
