MEXICO CITY - Tropical Storm Fausto has become a hurricane far off Mexico's Pacific coast, while two other tropical storms are moving across open seas.
The National Hurricane Center in Miami says none of the storms is expected to threaten land. Hurricane Fausto has maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometres per hour.
The storm's centre is about 720 kilometres southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico, and is moving toward the northwest at 20 kilometres per hour.
Much farther off the coast, Tropical Storm Elida continues to weaken, with maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometres per hour.
And in the open Atlantic, Tropical Storm Bertha is strengthening, but forecasters say the storm will start to weaken Saturday.
