BRAMPTON, Ont. - The Data Group Income Fund's (TSX:DGI.UN) third-quarter earnings tripled to $3.3 million despite a slight drop in its revenue, the document manager and printing services said Thursday.
Profit for the July-September period amounted to 14 cents a share, versus $1.1 million or five cents a share it generated in the same 2008 period. Revenues were $84.4 million, down from $89.2 million.
The fund cited cost cutting and revenues from new business for the improved quarterly results. Looking ahead, the fund said it will continue to manage on a "more of the same basis."
"The current economic environment continues to be very fluid, volatile and difficult to predict. Management believes the fund is well positioned to benefit from an economic recovery," the company stated.
Data Group has numerous facilities in 11 regions across Canada. During afternoon trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange, units of the company traded 39 cents higher to $5.43.
