GOYANG, South Korea - Lu Xiaojun of China set two world records to claim two gold medals in the men's 77-kilogram division at the World Weightlifting Championships on Tuesday.
Lu lifted 174 kilograms (383.6 pounds) on his third and final attempt in the snatch, beating the previous world record by 1 kg (2.2 pound).
He also hoisted 204 kg (450 pounds) in the clean and jerk. His combined 378 kg (833.34 pounds) won another gold and broke the previous record by 1 kg (2.2 pounds).
Olympic champion Sa Jae-hyouk of South Korea won gold in the clean and jerk after lifting 205 kg (451.94 pounds). He placed fifth in the snatch and fourth in the total weight.
Lu came second in the clean and jerk with Su Dajin of China taking the bronze after lifting 200 kg (440.92 pound).
Tigran G. Martirosyan from Armenia took the silver in the snatch with 170 kg (374.78 pound) and the total score with 370 kg (815.7 pound.
About 390 athletes from 71 countries are taking part in the 10-day championship, which opened at Goyang on Friday.
