CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico - Mexican police say they are protecting the girlfriend of a Canadian tourist who was killed in Mexico's Cabo San Lucas beach resort.

Police say 29-year-old Bouabal Bounthavorn was fatally shot late Thursday after he opened the door of his room at the Hotel Riu and argued briefly with an unknown man.

His girlfriend was wounded in the ankle and treated at a local hospital.

State police Cmdr. Enrique Wuilar says that authorities have no leads or motive in the killing.

They have set up roadblocks and are monitoring the airport for the killer, described as a tall, thin, dark-skinned man.

It would be nice to know WHAT happenned, robbery, altercation, drinking, drugs, gang initiation, etc. Or random. The DIFFERENCE between this and other vacation crimes is that the victim was in his hotel room. The DIFFERENCE between killings in your home country and Mexico is that most people know to stay away from the bad places in Canada, your hotel in Mexico is not supposed to be a "bad place". Also, we live in Canada 50 weeks a year, Mexico only 2.

Mexico just keeps proving how little they respect Canadians... ..SO GLAD WE'RE TALKING A FREE TRADE DEAL WITH THEM---NOT!!!

Do I hear " initiation"? The final test of becoming a full fledged member of a drug cartel,or an organized crime syndicate. Just to add a little "twist" to this theory,maybe it has something to do with the way illegal immigrants are being treated while trying to get into the states.Do I here "payback"? Buenos dios Senor
