PRINCE.EDWARD.ISLAND (CBC) - Charlottetown's Delta Prince Edward Hotel was evacuated early Wednesday morning after a fire broke out in the kitchen.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 4 a.m. By the time they arrived hotel staff had all 170 guests out of the hotel.
The fire started in and was contained to an electrical panel running stoves in the hotel's kitchen. Smoke from the fire made its way into the lobby and the second floor, but the hotel's ventilation system cleared the air a short time after the fire.
A ventilation unit in the banquet kitchen was the only piece of equipment damaged.
Guests were allowed to go back to their rooms at about 4:30 a.m. Business and food services at the hotel were all operating by 9 a.m.
