VANCOUVER (CBC) - A man who was arrested for allegedly shooting a person in the face in Fort St. John, B.C, last year is wanted for failing to abide by his release conditions.
Gary Mills, 58, is facing a number of charges including attempted murder and is considered a danger to the public, Fort St. John RCMP said Monday.
"At this point we don't know his current location. He obviously is on release conditions and part of those conditions was for him to reside at a current address," Const. Jackelynn Passarell told CBC News.
"We are monitoring that address. It was because of checks at this address that we believe he's breached those court order conditions."
The charges against Mills stem from a June 29 incident, police said. He allegedly broke into a residence and waited inside until the occupants, a man and a woman, returned home. Police allege he confronted the couple and shot the man in the face, then fled.
Mills was charged with attempted murder using a firearm, breaking and entering, assault with a weapon, possession of a firearm while prohibited, impaired driving and fleeing police.
A judge released him under strict conditions, including that he reside in the community of Powell River, B.C.
During a curfew check on the weekend, Power River RCMP found out that Mills had breached his release conditions, police alleged.
Police wouldn't say on Thursday if Mills had already gone missing at that time, only that his current whereabouts are unknown.
A warrant for his arrest has been issued.
RCMP said anyone who sees Mills should not approach him but call the police.
