Teen pleads guilty to murder of Lonnie Tanner

SASKATCHEWAN (CBC) - A teenager pleaded guilty in a Regina court Friday to second-degree murder in the stabbing death of Lonnie Tanner last year.

Tanner, an 18-year-old Cochrane High School student, was stabbed outside an apartment building in the east end of the city on March 17, 2007. He later died in hospital.

Tanner's cousin Curtis was stabbed to death in a separate incident on April 11, 2007.

The name of the youth charged with killing Lonnie Tanner can't be published under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He has also pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated assault.

Sentencing will be later this year. His next court appearance is June 27.
