PRINCE.EDWARD.ISLAND (CBC) - The body of 63-year-old Bernard Griffin of O'Leary was found Thursday afternoon along the shoreline of Foxley River in western P.E.I., say RCMP.
Griffin, who had a medical condition, left his home to go for a drive last Thursday night. His vehicle was found the next morning at the wharf in Cascumpec. An extensive ground, air and water search has been taking place ever since.
In addition to RCMP, coast guard, Department of Fisheries and Oceans officials, dozens of local firefighters, fishermen and volunteers helped search the area. Thursday's search involved ground personnel and rescue crews, an RCMP boat and helicopter and two helicopters from CFB Gagetown.
It was military helicopter pilots who spotted the body a short distance south of the RCMP search area.
The RCMP thanked everyone who helped with the search effort.
