SASKATCHEWAN (CBC) - The RCMP have confirmed that the human remains found on a First Nations reserve earlier this month belong to missing teenager Amber Tara-Lynn Redman.
Police found the remains on the Little Black Bear reserve northeast of Regina on May 5.
At the time, police said they believed they belonged to Redman, a 19-year-old from the Standing Buffalo First Nation who had not been seen since 2005.
On Thursday, the RCMP said their testing positively identified the remains as Redman's.
Two men have been charged with killing Redman and are in custody.
Albert Patrick Bellegarde, 29, will appear on May 26 in Fort Qu'Appelle provincial court. His cousin, Gilbert Allan Bellegarde, 31, will appear on May 23 in Regina provincial court. They have both been charged with first-degree murder.
Redman's family has been informed and is making funeral arrangements, the RCMP said.
