VANCOUVER (CBC) - RCMP in Burnaby, B.C., are warning the public after another bear sighting was reported in a wooded area in the 5800 block of Kincaid Street.
Police received a report of a mother bear and her cub strolling around the area at around 7 a.m. PT on Friday.
"Members of the Burnaby RCMP attended to the area but were unable to locate the mother or the cub," Cpl. Alexandra Mulvihill said in a news release.
The person who called the RCMP said the cub has previously been seen in the area, Mulvihill said.
"[We] are asking people in the area of Kincaid Street and Godwin Avenue to be aware of their surroundings, and if a bear is sighted, to back away," she said.
It was the second bear sighting in the city in the past two days. On Thursday, a bear was seen in the Forrest Grove area of Burnaby, Mulvihill said.
RCMP are asking nearby residents to keep their garbage indoors or securely cover their trash bins with lids, especially during the Victoria Day long weekend.
