It's not known how many people were on board or the extent of injuries.

The Winnipeg Free Press reported on its web site that three people were rescued, but their condition was not immediately known. It said the plane was attempting an emergency landing.

A spokesperson for the RCMP said a 911 call came in shortly after 2 p.m. that a plane had crashed off of Highway 313 and was turned upside down.
