PRINCE.EDWARD.ISLAND (CBC) - Charlottetown police are investigating the assault and robbery of a 17-year-old girl near Burger King on University Avenue early Tuesday evening.
The girl, visiting from Quebec City for an English Language Camp at UPEI, was walking in the grassy area on the side of the road, said police, when she was approached by three women and a man, all in their late teens or early 20s.
"This young lady, she was talking to them, trying to understand what they were wanting from her," said Charlottetown police Const. Gary Clow.
They threw her to the ground, took her wallet and ripped the necklace from her neck, Clow said.
The girl wasn't hurt, but was badly shaken. There was $75 in the wallet.
Clow said the assault happened at around 6:30 p.m. and there was plenty of traffic along University Avenue at the time. Police are asking anyone who might have seen the attack to call them at 629-4172.
