Arrest made in assault, unlawful confinement case

PRINCE.EDWARD.ISLAND (CBC) - Summerside police are releasing few details regarding charges against a 35-year-old man for the alleged assault and unlawful confinement of a local woman.

"We presently have him charged with assault against a female, uttering threats, unlawful confinement and damage to property," Deputy Chief Dave Griffin told CBC News on Thursday.

The incident occurred Wednesday.

Griffin said the woman was injured, but won't describe the extent of those injuries. He said the pair lived together, but would not give any further details.

The man was in court briefly Thursday, and the case has been adjourned until next Thursday. He will remain in custody until that time.
