CBCSports.ca senior reporter Tim Wharnsby names the top performers in the NHL from Thursday night.
FIRST STAR: Anze Kopitar, F, Los Angeles Kings
The league-leading point getter scored his second goal of the game in the third period to ignite a four-goal outburst and propel the Kings to a 5-2 win against Pittsburgh. It was the first loss in eight road games for the Penguins this season.
SECOND STAR: Jason Spezza, F, Ottawa Senators
The Senators centre returned after being sidelined for two games with back pain and responded with a goal and two assists in Ottawas 3-2 overtime win against Tampa Bay. Spezzas overtime winner was his first goal in 11 games this season.
THIRD STAR: Teemu Selanne, F, Anaheim Ducks
The veteran Ducks forward scored twice in the 4-0 victory against Nashville. Selanne is the active goals-scored leader at 587 (18th overall) and his two points increased his career total to 1,221 to move past the legendary Jean Beliveau and into 38th place on the all-time list.
