TORONTO (CBC) - A man who was shot aboard a Toronto bus Thursday night likely wasn't the intended target, police say.
A 25-year-old man is in hospital after being hit by a single bullet fired by someone standing outside the Toronto Transit Commission bus as it drove west on Sheppard Avenue, near Arleta Avenue, east of Jane Street, at about 9:15 p.m., Toronto police said.
The man boarded the bus on Sheppard Avenue at Sentinel Road and was on his way to work at a meat packing plant when the shooting occurred.
The bullet shattered the window and hit the man in the shoulder.
His injury is not considered life-threatening.
Police told CBC News Friday morning he likely wasn't targeted by the shooter.
Investigators do not know who the bullet was meant for and haven't found any shell casings or identified a suspect.
Police said they didn't get a call from passersby or area residents to report a gunshot. They are now appealing for people who may have information about the shooting to contact them.
