West division detectives released a surveillance image of a male suspect believed to be connected to a rash of thefts from vehicles in hopes the public can help identify him.
The west-end communities of Hudson, Pembina, Cumberland and Wellington have seen the highest increases in thefts from autos, police said. In the last 30 days, there were 36 cases in the four neighbourhoods, with most of the incidents taking place between midnight and 6 a.m.
Police are urging vehicle owners to remove valuable articles from their vehicles. Those parked on the street and within locked parkades with visible loose change, merchandise and registration and insurance slips have been targeted. Windows have been smashed and door locks punched.
