MIAMI (Reuters) - Hurricane Bertha weakened to a Category 1 on the five-step Saffir-Simpson scale of hurricane intensity, the National Hurricane Center said on Tuesday.
The first hurricane of the 2008 Atlantic hurricane season had top sustained winds of 85 miles per hour as it moved through the open Atlantic Ocean and was weakening on Tuesday almost as rapidly as it intensified on Monday.
