Stars honour Jackson in 'sombre, spiritual' memorial
While there was no lack of star power at Jackson's memorial, the event was restrained; it was 'a sombre, spiritual ceremony' that the King of Pop surely would've appreciated. Brooke Shields playfully poked fun of her friend's infamous glove, Mariah Carey belted out 'I'll Be There,' as Jennifer Hudson performed an inspired rendtion of 'Will You Be There.' But the most touching moment came at the close of the service, when his 11-year-old daughter Paris declared her love for her 'daddy' before breaking into sobs.

Jays general manager said today that the team is 'open' to accepting offers for star pitcher Roy Halladay. The veteran right-hander is in the second year of a three-year, US$40-million contract, and any shoppers obviously have to pay a hefty price, said the team's general manager. Losing Doc would be a blow to the team, whose lost three of four games to the Yankees over the weekend, and is seven games behind the Sox.

Last year, Republican U.S. Senate candidate Bob Schaffer borrowed Alaska's Mount McKinley in a TV ad as he talked about proposing to his wife on the peak of Colorado's mountains.
