Senator Marshall to help N.L. Conservatives
A former MHA who refused to support former premier Danny Williams and his 'Anyone But Conservative' movement in 20008 has taken a senior role in the current election campaign.
Elizabeth Marshall, who was appointed to the senate by Prime Minister Stephen Harper in 2009, is in Newfoundland and Labrador to chair former senator Fabian Manning's campaign in the federal riding of Avalon.
"I don't look at it as a vindication, I just felt at the time that [ABC] was the wrong decision and a poor decision," said Marshall.
"I'm just very happy that this disconnect has disappeared and that we're a unified force now, and that people are willing to come out and help on the campaign because that did have an impact on the last federal campaign. So I am glad that [ABC] is over,"
Marshall said she's now working full-time to get Conservative candidates elected.
Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Kathy Dunderdale said she won't be working to prevent the election of federal Conservatives, and may actually try to help them.
"Members of my district association are involved in St. John's East and there may come a time when I take an active role as well," said Dunderdale.
Dunderdale said she has had good relations with her federal counterparts since becoming premier.
