Slide the City bringing giant slip and slide to Calgary
Slide the City is bringing a giant slip and slide to Calgary this summer.
The U.S.-based company made arrangements with the city to set up a 300-metre padded vinyl slide on 10th Street next to Riley Park in northwest Calgary Aug. 1.
The company describes its events as "family-friendly" water parties, complete with music, food and drinks.
"We like to think of ourselves as carney workers, without the mullets and the missing teeth," reads the company's website, which also reassures would-be sliders that cruising down asphalt in your swimsuit can be comfortable.
"This slide’s got more cushion than your grandpa’s orthopedic sneakers."
Tickets to ride cost between $15 and $65.
An event will also be held in Edmonton on June 27.
