Stolen car stuck in Saskatoon pedestrian tunnel

A car thief tried to drive a stolen vehicle through a pedestrian tunnel in Saskatoon this morning, but ran into a big problem.

A Chevrolet Impala was found wedged in a concrete underpass at 29th Street and Vancouver Avenue.

The vehicle cleared one tunnel that goes under a set of train tracks. However, the car got stuck in a second underpass.

At about 7:35 a.m. CST, police received a report of a vehicle being driven suspiciously in the 2300 block of 33rd Street West.

The witness described the driver of the car, which had a flat tire, as a teenage male. The witness saw the vehicle strike a fence and then drive away.

About 20 minutes later, police discovered the vehicle stuck in the underpass. Police said the vehicle was reported stolen overnight.
